Ingredients

1¼lbsground turkey,93% lean

4oxbacon,(6 slices), roughly chopped

½onion,quartered

2clovesgarlic,halved

2ozjarred cherry peppers,(about 4 whole)

10basil leaves

1tspthyme,fresh

1large egg

½cupwhole wheat Panko,or gluten-free Panko

½tspkosher salt

freshly ground pepper,to taste

2tbspsweet BBQ sauce

2tbspketchup

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

In a small bowl, combine barbeque sauce and ketchup. Set aside.

In a food processor fitted with a metal blade, combine bacon, onion, garlic, cherry peppers, basil, and thyme. Pulse about 10 times until combined and uniform in color and texture.

In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, egg, panko, salt, and pepper.

Add bacon-cherry pepper mixture to the bowl and mix until thoroughly combined. Using hands, form small round meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.

Place the meatballs on a large baking sheet lined with parchment and with a pastry or silicone brush, lightly brush the meatballs with the barbeque-ketchup mixture.

Bake for 12 minutes and then adjust the oven to broil.

Broil for an additional 4 to 5 minutes, or until meatballs are cooked through and browned.
