Ingredients
1 cup cake flour
1 cup cornmeal
1½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp granulated sugar
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 eggs
½ cup beer
½ cup buttermilk
5 hotdogs
vegetable oil, for deep frying
2 tbsp ketchup, to serve
2 tbsp mayonnaise, to serve
2 tbsp mustard, to serve
Preparation
In a bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, soda and salt.
Using a whisk, combine eggs, milk, and beer in another bowl.
Add to the dry ingredients and whisk until little lumps remain. Transfer to a tall container & keep chilled.
Heat oil in a deep pan or deep fryer until it reaches 375 degrees F.
Insert a stick into each hot dog half and dip in batter.
Fry in the oil for 8 to10 minutes or until golden brown.
Drain, serve and enjoy.
