Ingredients

1 cup tempura batter mix

¼ tsp onion powder

⅛ tsp ground black pepper

½ cup cold club soda or soda water

¼ cup cold beer

1 large yellow onions, sliced into rings, roughly 11 oz total

6 cups vegetable oil

Preparation

Preheat the deep fryer to 375 degrees F.

Combine the tempura mix with your spices, along with the soda water and beer, to make the batter. Ensure that the batter is maintained cold during the entire process.

Dip the rings in the batter and drop into the preheated oil.

Fry for 3 to 5 minutes until golden brown.

Place on a paper towel-lined plate. Salt lightly and serve.
