Ingredients

6qtspopped popcorn,approximately ¾ cup kernels

1cupbutter

½cuplight corn syrup

2cupsbrown sugar

1tspsalt

½tspbaking soda

1tspvanilla

1½cupspecans,or peanuts, optional

Preparation

Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.

Melt butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 5 minutes without stirring.

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and baking soda.

Pour over popped corn (and optional mix-ins) and mix well to combine.

Spread mixture over two 9×13-inch pans and bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
