Ingredients
1½ lb green cabbage, sliced into ½-inch strips
2 lb ground beef
3 oz red onions, chopped
3 tbsp olive oil
⅔ cup long grain rice, uncooked
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder
4 cups tomato sauce
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
⅓ cup brown sugar
salt and ground black pepper, to taste
¼ tsp parsley, chopped
Preparation
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
In a mixing bowl, combine tomato sauce, vinegar, and sugar. Whisk until sugar has dissolved completely then set aside.
Heat up a skillet with oil over medium heat. Add beef and sauté until browned.
Drain off any excess fat if there is any. Next, add the onions, rice, chili and garlic powders and continue sautéing.
Season with salt and pepper then mix to combine.
Layer half of your cabbage strips into your baking casserole then spread the meat mixture over the cabbage.
Top your casserole with the remaining cabbage strips, then pour the tomato sauce mixture.
Cover with foil, then bake in the oven for roughly 90 minutes or until fully cooked through.
Portion accordingly, and garnish with parsley. Serve while hot!
