Ingredients
½tspolive oil
4garlic cloves,minced
1½cupsreduced sodium chicken or vegetable broth
3cupstomato sauce,canned
2tbspchipotle chilis in adobo sauce,chopped to taste
1tspmexican hot chili powder,or more to taste
1tspground cumin
½tspkosher salt
fresh black pepper,to taste
Preparation
Heat a saucepan over medium heat, add the oil and garlic; sauté for about 1 minute until golden.
Add the chicken broth, tomato sauce, chipotle chiles, hot chili powder, cumin, and salt and pepper, to taste. Bring to a boil then reduce the heat to low and simmer, uncovered for about 7 to 10 minutes.
Set aside until ready to use.
