Ingredients
6lbschicken,(1 whole)
1½tsppaprika
1½tspgarlic powder
1tsponion powder
1tspdried thyme
1tspdried rosemary
½tspcelery seed
¼tspturmeric,optional
salt and freshly ground black pepper
Preparation
Remove the giblets from the center of the chicken.
In a small bowl, whisk together the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, celery seed, turmeric and salt and pepper to taste.
Transfer chicken to a 6 or 7-quart slow cooker, sprinkle all over with spice mixture including the inside cavity.
Cover and cook on High heat for 4 to 5 hours or Low heat for about 8 hours, until the center of the thigh registers 165 degrees F on an instant-read thermometer.
Transfer to a cutting board and let rest 5 minutes.
