5eggs

3cupsall purpose flour

1tsplemon extract

12fl ozlemon lime flavored carbonated beverage

1½cupswhite sugar

1cupcoconut,flaked

8ozpineapple with juice,crushed

½cuppecans,chopped

Preparation

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease and flour one 9×13-inch baking pan.

Cream the 1 cup of butter or margarine, shortening, and 3 cups of white sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one a time beating well after each addition.

Beat in the flour, lemon extract, and lemon-lime soda. Mix well and pour batter into the prepared pan.

Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour.

In a saucepan combine 1½ cups of white sugar, ½ cup of butter or margarine, 3 eggs, coconut, pineapple, and nuts.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture is thick. Pour over cake while the cake is still hot and the icing is bubbling.
