Ingredients
1 cup fresh strawberries, cleaned and mashed
1 cup sugar
3 tbsp cornstarch
¾ cup water
few drops red food coloring, optional
Preparation
In a mixing bowl mash the strawberries and set aside.
In a saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and water. Stir until no lumps remain.
Place saucepan over medium heat and add the mashed berries. Bring to a boil while constantly stirring. Mix in a few drops of food coloring if preferred. Cook and stir for 3 minutes or until liquid thickens up.
Remove from heat and pour into a bowl and let it cool down for 10 to 15 minutes
For a smoother consistency pour the mixture through a sieve and mash the strawberries again or use a food processor.
