Can I use instant yeast?

Yes, you can substitute the active dry yeas for instant yeast. This recipe calls for 2 tsp of active dry yeast so you would do 1 1/3 tsp of instant yeast!

how to make a stromboli-

Prepare dough using THIS method. We just made a smaller portion for the stromboli.Roll out the dough to about 12”x17” rectangle. Place the dough on a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread the marinara sauce over the dough (leave about ½-inch of dough along the edges free of toppings).Spread the meat in an even layer over the sauce and top with cheese.Roll up the dough with toppings into a burrito placing the seam of the dough under the roll. Tightly pinch the edges together and tuck seams under so nothing oozes out during the baking.Brush top of stromboli with egg wash.Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden in color.Serve the stromboli with hot or cold marinara.

what is the difference between a stromboli pizza and a calzone?

The biggest difference between a stromboli and a calzone is the way it is shaped and sealed. A stromboli is rolled up like a burrito while a calzone is shaped like a flat taco, then folded over and sealed.  In stromboli, the main ingredients are  meats, cheese and sauce while in a calzone veggies and other toppings may be added with the meat and cheese. Both use a pizza dough.

Can I freeze stromboli?

Yes, stromboli freezes great! Once baked, cool and tightly wrap the stromboli and place in a freezer bag. Freeze up to 3 months. Thaw stromboli overnight in the fridge or at room temperature until thawed.

How do I reheat stromboli?

To reheat stromboli, cover with foil and bake until reheated.
