1cupunsalted butter,softened

1½cupssugar

2large eggs

2large egg yolks

2tspvanilla extract

2cupsflour

1tspbaking powder

¼tspsalt

1cupwhole milk

1cupunsalted butter,softened

2¼cupspowdered sugar

⅓cupunsweetened baking cocoa

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and spray a 9×13-inch baking pan with baking spray.

To stand mixer, add butter and sugar on medium speed, and mix for 1 to 2 minutes until light and fluffy.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.

Add in the eggs and egg yolks one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.

Alternate adding in the milk and the flour mixture until just combined.

Spread into baking pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until lightly browned and cooked through.

In a clean stand mixer, cream together butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla.

Mix on the lowest setting until just mixed together, then raise the speed to medium-high, mixing for about 1 to 2 minutes until light and fluffy.

Wait until the cake has cooled before frosting.
